Build and extend the core banking, payment-approval and payroll platforms our clients run their operations on.
You will work on production Node.js systems used by finance companies and SMEs: core banking (customer file, treasury, compliance), payment voucher approvals, credit analysis, payroll and finance modules. Our codebases are deliberately lean, often with zero external dependencies and SQLite storage, so you will write and own real application code rather than glue frameworks together.
What you will do
- Design and build features across our platforms, from database schema to server-rendered pages and APIs
- Implement financial logic correctly: double-entry postings, maker-checker approvals, tax and payroll rules
- Write automated tests for calculations and workflows, and keep existing suites green
- Migrate client data from spreadsheets and legacy databases with reconciliation checks
- Support deployments on Linux servers and help resolve production issues
What we are looking for
- 3+ years building backend systems in JavaScript/Node.js
- Strong SQL and data-modelling skills (SQLite, PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Comfortable with plain Node.js (http, streams, crypto) without leaning on heavy frameworks
- Care for correctness: you check totals, handle edge cases and write things down
- Based in or able to work from Lagos for hybrid collaboration
Nice to have
- Experience with banking, accounting, payroll or other regulated software
- Familiarity with IFRS, CBN regulations or Nigerian tax rules
- Linux server administration (systemd, Nginx, backups)
